چکیده

In this Review, we discuss catalytic systems for soot combustion. The focus is on alkali-containing materials since they exhibit the most promising and platinum group metal (PGM) free solutions, providing highly efficient catalysts at a low price. wide range of experimental conditions used catalyst evaluation parameters commonly to compare different was scrutinized. presented synthetic summary classical long-researched reveals that active catalysts, which may fulfill low-temperature activity apart from PGM-based systems, are only those containing alkalis as beneficial dopants. alkali promotion by surface doping or nanostructuration earth abundant transition oxides emerged an effective way develop oxidation materials; therefore, physical nature thoroughly discussed. A detailed presentation state art three-dimensional macroporous presented, these combine with morphological features designed enhancing contact between particles. Finally, set reactivity descriptors alkali-promoted (work function, desorption energy, oxygen availability) proposed foster rational design oxidation.

Catalytic evaluation of promoted CeO2-ZrO2 by transition, alkali, and alkaline-earth metal oxides for diesel soot oxidation.

Series of mixed metal oxides were synthesized by gel-combustion method and their catalytic activities for soot oxidation were investigated. The catalysts were M-Ce-Zr (M = Mn, Cu, Fe, K, Ba, Sr), and xK-20Mn-Ce-Zr (x = 0, 5, 10, 20), they were characterized by XRD, SEM, TPR and BET surface area techniques. The results of soot temperature programmed oxidation (TPO) in an O2 oxidizing atmosphere ...

Catalytic systems based on Ce, Zr, K for soot oxidation

Systems based on Ce-Zr are used in catalytic converters for their oxygen storage ability. Recently, their application for soot abatement is under investigation. In this paper, preliminary results of the performance of Ce-Zr systems with the addition of K are reported by varying potassium content and calcination temperature. The powder catalysts were prepared by a variant of the citrates route d...

Reaction Mechanism in Catalytic Soot Combustion with CeO2 Catalysts

Introduction Diesel soot elimination is a very difficult problem. The catalytic filters seems to be one of the technological alternatives in order to trap and burn the soot, at the exhaust gas temperature. In order to advance in a rational catalyst design, the reaction mechanism must be understood. In spite of this need, and even though there are many papers in the field, detailed studies regar...

Ordered phases in alkali redistribution during a catalytic surface reaction

Reaction fronts in the O2+H2 reaction on a Rh(110) surface predosed with potassium have been shown to be associated with a redistribution of the potassium from the oxygen freed to the still oxygen covered parts of the surface. As stable final state a stationary pattern results under reaction conditions formed by K+O coadsorption islands of macroscopic size. Here low energy electron microscopy (...
